We mentioned on the Prophecy Watch television program that there are at least 3 parts to the resurrection of the righteous (the resurrection of Christ, the “first fruits,” the Rapture resurrection of the Church saints, and the resurrection at the end of the Tribulation of the Old Testament and Tribulation saints). Let’s take a closer look at the sequence of the resurrections.</p> <p>Jesus said, “Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.” John 5:28-29</p> <p>Believers and unbelievers will be raised, but not all at the same time. Scripture, in the original language, says that believers will be resurrected “out from among” all of those who are dead. ( Luke 20:35; Philippians 3:11) That means that there will actually be two phases to the resurrection of people—one phase when believers will be raised, and another when unbelievers will be raised. This is confirmed in Revelation 20:4-6 where the resurrection is seen to actually come as two episodic events known as the “first resurrection [of believers]” and the [second] resurrection of “the rest of the dead.” Thus there will be two phases to the resurrection of people—one phase when believers will be raised, and another when unbelievers will be raised.</p> <p>Furthermore, the resurrection of believers is specifically said to unfold “each in his own order” of succession. Thinking about this endeavor, Christmas reminds me of the miracle of the genealogy and birth records of Jesus Christ—recorded BEFORE the fact. This is pure prophecy, looking forward in time. And that is something only God can do!</p> <p>To the very first woman was given the prediction that the Messiah would come from the seed of a woman—a prediction of the virgin birth of Christ. (Gen. 3:15) As such He would enter into the human race as a divine-human son of Adam (Eve came from Adam, Gen. 2:21-23), destined to be born of a virgin. God then diverted the line of Jesus through Seth as opposed to Cain. After the Flood the entire human race regenerated in three divisions. Jesus’ genealogy was pre-written through Shem, thus eliminating the two-thirds of mankind that proceeded from Noah’s other two sons, Ham and Japheth. (Gen. 9:18-19, 26)</p> <p>Out of all of the families of Shem, only one—Abraham—was called to father the nation which would bring forth the Messiah. (Gen. 12:1-3) Abraham’s first two sons were Ishmael and Isaac. Jesus’ birth records, here pre-written 1400 years before His birth, show that God chose Isaac to be a forefather of the Messiah. (Gen. 17:19) Meanwhile, God foresaw in Ishmael the enduring bitterness of the Arabs against the Jews (see page 4). (Gen. 16:11-12)</p> <p>Twins were born to Isaac, Jacob and Esau. The line of Jesus was pre-recorded through Jacob, whose name became Israel. Jacob (Israel) had twelve sons who fathered the twelve tribes of Israel. Eleven-twelfths of them were eliminated from the genealogy of Jesus when it was prophesied that the Messiah-King would come from Judah. (Gen. 49:10)</p> <p>Out of Jacob’s son Judah came the tribe of Judah with its thousands of families. Out from among these God chose one—the family of Jesse. (Isa. 11:1-2) David was chosen from Jesse’s seven sons to extend the genealogy of Jesus to the Messianic throne over Jerusalem, Israel, and ultimately the nations. (1 Chr. 17:11-15)</p> <p>Because of a curse by God upon one of King David’s descendants, Jechoniah, God diverted the royal genealogy of Jesus through another son of David, Nathan. The virgin Mary was in the line of Nathan. Thus, the bloodline of Jesus extended to David. Is the vision of the woman clothed with the sun, the moon beneath her feet, and a crown of 12 stars on her head to be taken as literal, symbolic, or symbolic with a literal meaning behind the symbolism? When we use the Scripture as its own best interpreter, the answer becomes clear. This is the method Jesus used to explain the prophecies when He said to his disciples, "O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!" (Luke 24:21) We will look to the Scriptures--in "all that the prophets have spoken"-- to understand the "Woman" of Revelation 12 in Part 1 of this article. Many are placing the Seal judgments basically in a "historicists" setting, with the Tribulation period (Daniel's 70th Week) not beginning until Seal 6. This makes Seals 6 &amp; 7 to be the only Seal judgments in a futurist mode. Seals 1-4, and sometimes Seal 5, are said to be already past, or in progress.</p> <p>Here are some of the reasons the first four Seals cannot be historical, some of which I detail in my book The Assyrian Connection.</p> <li><p>When Jesus tells John to write to the 7 churches, He always closes each individual message with "let him hear what the spirit says to the churches (plural)". Since 7 is the number for completion/perfection/maturity, and these messages are given to the church(ES), then they encompass all of the church body throughout the church age, right down to the present time. This is confirmed by the message to Thyatira to "hold fast until I come", i.e., the Second Coming of Christ at the end of the Church age. In the chronology of Revelation which Jesus gives in 1:19, the church age is included in "the things which are." Therefore, "the things which shall take place after these things" occur after the church age. This segment of Revelation begins in 4:1 where John is caught up to heaven (a picture of the Rapture) to see "what must take place after these things." This includes the opening of all 7 Seals.</p></li> <li><p>There is an unmistakable parallel between Seals 1-4 (the four horses) and the chronology of the last days given by Jesus in Matthew 24:7-9. Matthew lists (1) false christs and nation will RISE (Grk = from rest/peace), i.e., a clear parallel with Seal 1/1st Horse, (2) kingdom against kingdom, i.e., corresponding to Seal 2/2nd Horse, 3) famine and earthquakes, i.e., parallel to Seal 3/3rd Horse, (4) Luke's version mentions "plagues" (21:11), i.e., which reflect Seal 4/4th Horse, (5) then Matthew continues with "they will kill you ...on account of My name", i.e. corresponding to the 5th Seal, (6) and finally Matthew 24:29-30 gives a precise description of Seal 6. Now, the first 4 events above (Seals 1-4) in Matthew's account are said to be "the beginning of birth pangs." This angel appears to be the same angel as the one in Daniel 12:7. They both carry a message about the length and time-span of the tribulation period.</p> <p>However, it is not the angel, but rather the voice of the “seven peals of thunder” which utters the message in verse 3. But the message is not revealed. Instead there is a direct command to John from heaven that he should “"Seal up the things which the seven peals of thunder have spoken, and do not write them." (Revelation 10:4) Once again, we have a remarkable similarity to the events of Daniel 7:4-7, where Daniel is commanded to “conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time.” (v. 4)</p> <p>THE ANGEL OF DANIEL</p> <p>And I heard the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, as he raised his right hand and his left toward heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times, and half a time; and as soon as they finish shattering the power of the holy people, all these events will be completed. (Daniel 12:7)</p> <p>THE ANGEL OF REVELATION</p> <p>And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that there shall be delay no longer, (Revelation 10:5-6)</p> <p>First, we must remember that even though the “revelation” in the Book Of Revelation means to “reveal,” God has chosen to “conceal” certain things here in chapter 10. “Do not write them” He says about the utterances of the seven peals of thunder. Indeed, we must respect this, for "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law. In the prophecies of Daniel Persia was to succeed Babylon as one of four gigantic empires to rule in the “times of the gentiles.” (Luke 21:24) Persia, along with the other 3 powers (Babylon, Greece &amp; Rome) would rule the world in succession right up until the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. All four gentile kingdoms will coexist in a monstrous union (The Revived Roman Empire, seen in embryonic form in today’s European Union) as the time of the end approached. So far, to date, these prophecies have materialized precisely as Daniel foretold.</p> <p>Ezekiel tells of a time when Persia (Iran) will join other Islamic nations in a joint invasion of Israel under the leadership of “Magog” (Russia). (Ezekiel 38, 39) These nations will be devastated by the direct judgment of God on behalf of His covenant people. Every indication from the Bible is that the Antichrist rises to fill the void left by the fall of these nations. Persia (the Bear) then becomes part of the Beast Empire of Rev. 13:1-3.</p> <p>According To The Bible... The apostle Paul certainly seems to agree. He says</p> <p>But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 1 Corinthians 13-15</p> <p>In essence, then, if Christians do not have the very real expectation of a coming resurrection of the dead to life, neither then do we have any basis for hope in a living Christ, and therefore our faith is as meaningless as all of the false religions which fill the world of our time!</p> <p>But…”now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep,” Paul goes on to say under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 15:20) And that changes everything. Life takes on a miraculous meaning which is rooted in the Living God. And the future—that is, Bible prophecy—becomes a matter of enormous significance!</p> <p>Dr. Charles L. The Biblical evidence supports that these four kingdoms of Daniel 7 were in fact the historical kingdoms of Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome--and that they will arise again at the End Time. However, there are five major objections to this view. They are answered below.</p> <li>“These great beasts, which are four in number, are four kings who will arise from the earth.” (Daniel 7:17) An objections is raised that since the verb in this verse, “will arise,” is future tense, then Babylon cannot possibly be the first of these 4 kingdoms because the prophecy was given to Daniel near the end of Babylon’s rule as an empire (14 years before the end of the Babylonian kingdom, Daniel 7:1). The “will arise” would imply that the first kingdom had not yet risen!</li> <p>The answer is that the prophecy of the 4 kingdoms is given as a unit. It is not predicted that any particular kingdom “will arise,” but that four kingdoms “will arise.” That is much the same as saying to a father who has a firstborn son and is destined to have 3 more, “You will give rise to 4 sons.” Even though one son is already present, the emphasis is on ‘four’ sons. Another example would be to say to a football coach who has won the first 3 games of a 12-game season that “you will win 12 games this season.” It is common in every-day speech to refer to a unit in the future tense like this, even though part of that unit is already past.</p> <p>The Book of Daniel itself gives us an example of this. Look at chapter two’s version of the 4 kingdoms. The Covenant is an indication of a major peace initiative. That leads us to three key prophecies. Each of these, Matthew 24:6-7, Revelation 6:1-4, and Ezekiel 38 and 39, portray just such a time of peace. And in each prophecy the peace proves false, and is followed by a worldwide outbreak of war. This most remarkable prophecy has been called “nothing less than a mathematical demonstration” of the divine inspiration of the Bible. 1</p> <p>Seventy “sevens” (weeks) of time would elapse from day one until the establishment of the Kingdom of the Messiah. Sixty-nine of these “sevens” would elapse from day one until Jesus’ public ministry as the Messiah; He would then be crucified. History would continue, but the calendar will not resume its final “seven” until the end time of this age arrives. The resumption of the calendar will be signaled by a Covenant between the Jews and the Antichrist.</p> <p>Day one of the calendar is given. It began with the decree of the Persian king, Artaxerxes, to return some of the captive Jews to rebuild Jerusalem in 444 B.C. (Dan. 9.25; Neh. 2 1-8). The next event on the calendar came-- not days, or weeks, or months-- but years later. Sixty-nine “sevens” (69 X 7) or 483 years later came the fulfillment of Jesus as the Messiah at His inaugural reception in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday (Luke 19:35-44). This was followed by His crucifixion.</p> <p>The “sevens,” then, are “sevens” of years. Nearly all Bible scholars recognize this fact. 2 The seventy-sevens are seventy-sevens of years, or 490 years. The first 483 years were fulfilled as literal years. So must the remaining seven years be fulfilled as literal years.</p> <p>These remaining seven years were suspended when the Jews rejected Christ. The silent intermission between the close of the 483 years and the start of the final seven years constitutes the familiar ”gap" of Biblical prophecy; a gap or temporary suspension in prophetic continuity and ultimate fulfillment. Both the suspension of the calendar after the crucifixion of Christ, and the silence of the "gap” in Daniel 9 are explained by the fact that God’s pro- gram shifted for an indefinite duration from the Jews to the newly created church (Rom. 11:11-2 7), and, to Daniel and the other Old Testament prophets, the church was an unrevealed “mystery” (Eph. 3:3-6). 3</p> <p>The remaining time of seven years will begin with the Covenant between the Antichrist and Israel. Revelation 13:1 The Beast of Revelation represents both a king and a kingdom ( see my book, The Assyrian Connection, listed in the bibliography, chapter 2 ). But the full meaning of the Beast can only be understood to the extent that we can understand the meaning of the features of the Beast, particularly the 7 Heads and the 10 Horns, which are the most prominent and consistent features according to both Revelation 13 &amp; 17. Can We Expect An Answer?</p> <p>We have what amounts to a prophetic and historic template in our quest for the identity of the 7 Heads and 10</p> <p>Horns. I shall call it the "Greek Template." In Daniel 7 &amp; 8 there are prophecies related to the Greek Empire. In the Daniel 7 prophecy, verse 6 tells of a Beast with 4 Heads. The prophecy in chapter 8 tells of a Beast having a large broken horn, followed by 4 Horns, followed by a single horn. Conservative prophecy scholars are virtually united in recognizing that both prophecies describe the post-Alexandrian Grecian Empire of the late fourth century BC. We shall find also that the Heads and Horns of the Revelation Beast relate to empires and rulers. When it comes to prophecy, there is indeed a Euphrates connection!</p> <li><p>Babylon is being rebuilt on its original site by Iraq. The prophets Isaiah (Is 13) and Jeremiah (Je 50-51) , and the apostle John (Re 18) each declared that Babylon would rise again, reemerging even beyond its former glory. It will be a great city, the hub of planetary commerce and religion, the capital of the world, and the center of the Antichrist. We would therefore expect it to be a prime habitat of Satan-and indeed it is! The Bible specifically designates it at the end time as “a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit” (Re 18.2). This demon infested metropolis will be located on its original site of old—the Euphrates River!</p></li> <li><p>Near the end of the Great Tribulation, at the sounding of the 6th Trumpet Plague, 200 million demonic spirits are released to kill 1/3 of mankind (Re 9.13-21). We know they are demon angels because their leaders are four fallen angels. The description further confirms they are creatures from the demonic dimension (see The Assyrian Connection, by Phillip Goodman, p. 189; Prescott Press, 1993). From where does the assault of this demonic hoard originate? ...”The great river Euphrates!” (Re 9.14)</p></li> <li><p>When the Antichrist and his False Prophet deceive all the nations into converging on Israel to blot out the Jews, the call to arms is actually spread across the planet with the assistance of demonic messengers (Re 16.12-16). The Seven Seals span the entire seven-year end time.</p> <p>Seal one commences with the Jewish Covenant which inaugurates Israel's Seventieth Week. Seal 6 is a depiction of the Day of the Lord which concludes the Seventieth Week. Thus the Seven Seals present a panorama of the end time as described in Revelation 6-19, its summary version, the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24, and their one verse time-frame commentary in Daniel 9:27. Here is the evidence that the first four seals portray the Birth Pang stage of the end time as described in Matthew 24:7,8.</p> <li>Seal one parallels the pre-"rise" phase of peace implied in Matthew 24:7.</li> <li>Seal two harmonizes with the next phase- nation is against nation- or global warfare.</li> <li>Seal three is the famine (and possibly earthquake) phase.</li> <li>Seal four fits the plague phase (Luke 21:11).</li> <p>Further confirmation of harmony between Seals one through four and the Birth Pangs of Matthew 24:7 is the agreement in both that the next movement is mass martyrdom of the saints (Mat. 24:9; cmp. Seal five). Since the Birth Pangs are called the "beginning" of end time events (Mat. 24:8), then the first four seals are that beginning, and occupy much of the first half of Israel's Seventieth Week.</p> <p>Second, since Seal two takes peace from the earth, then Seal one must picture a conquest through peaceful means (6:2; bow without arrows). There are only two times of "peace" in the end-time prophetic scenario. The first is the Jewish Covenant which signals the beginning of the end time. It is terminated by war among men (Mat. 24:7; Rev. 6:4). The second is a brief period of "Peace and safety" (I The. 5:2) proclaimed by the followers of the Antichrist. But it is not terminated by war among men; it is terminated by the armies of Heaven in the Day of the Lord at the end of the seven years. Therefore, Seal one, being at the beginning of the Birth Pangs, represents the Covenant that the Assyrian makes with Israel (Dan. 9:27).</p> <p>The third reason that the first four Seals of Revelation 6 must describe the Birth Pangs of Matthew 24:7,8 is that they are obviously still to come. In doing so, He set history on a past, present, and future time continuum. In Isaiah 46:9-11 God surveys this time continuum. First He points to the importance of remembering past history when He says “Remember this, and be assured; recall it to mind, you transgressors. Remember the former things long past…” Then God speaks in the present tense, saying, “For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me…” He then refers to the whole span of the time continuum, when He proclaims that only He can declare “the end from the beginning.” Next He points to future time when He says “Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass. I have planned it, surely I will do it.” This passage is just one of many which confirms God’s intent that the series of events which parade across time must flow in a linear, sequential pattern. The events of Bible prophecy are no different.</p> <p>There is a divine plan and an orderly process to the events around us. And of course this is also true of the events yet to come— the events of Biblical prophecy. For example, in Genesis 15:13-14 the Lord tells (Abram) Abraham that “your descendants will be strangers in a land [Egypt] that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years. But I will also judge the nation whom they will serve; and afterward they will come out with many possessions.” Notice that first, the Jews were to be enslaved in the future, and then “afterward” they would be freed. Regarding the final half (the last half of the Seventieth Week) here is a crucial point — all references to a three and one-half year period, whether termed "forty-two (42) months," "twelve-hundred and sixty (1260) days," or "time, times, and half a time," are speaking of the same three and one-half year time period, which is called The Great Tribulation. This is critical to a correct understanding of the chronology of end-time events.</p> <p>The end time comprises a seven-year period (Dan. 9:27; Israel's Seventieth Week). It is broken midway by the Abomination of Desolation (Dan. 9:27; Mat. 24:15; 2 The. 2:3.4), leaving three and one-half years to go. Jesus said the Abomination would connect two events; the flight of a Jewish Remnant from the Antichrist and the beginning of the Great Tribulation (Mat. 24:15-21). On the basis of these facts, a clear linkage of the various time references becomes apparent and shows them to be identical.</p> <p>The flight of the Jews, to which Jesus refers in Matthew 24: 15-21, is portrayed in Revelation 12. It is said to last 1260 days (v. 6), or a time and times and half a time (v. 14, i.e., a single time of one year plus the smallest plural of two years plus half a year). Thus, the time terms “1260 days” and “a time and times and half a time” are equated, both being equal to three and one-half years.</p> <p>When the Antichrist sets himself up as God in the Temple — the act of the Abomination of Desolation — Jerusalem is "tread under foot" by the Gentiles. This extends for 42 months (Rev. 11:2). This means the Abomination not only triggers the “1260-day-time, times, and half a time” flight of the Jews, but also initiates the 42-month Gentile dominance over Jerusalem.</p> <p>Therefore all three references encompass the same time period. In other words there are two Gospels. But the Bible says differently,</p> <p>1) there is only one Gospel of Salvation, such an important truth that it says "let them be accursed" who try to change it. (Gal. 1:8-9)</p> <p>2) since the Gospel is "everlasting," (Rev. 14:6) it is therefore the same Gospel that Paul preached--the one that cannot change--and thus it is the same Gospel for both Jews and Gentiles. That means there is only one Gospel.</p> <p>3) this is confirmed clearly by Christ, when He said "no one comes to the Father but by me." (John 14:6) He had earlier said to the unbelieving Jews, "If you do not believe I am He (God, the Messiah) you will die in your sins" (John 8:24), and that "you have not come to know Him (the Father, John 8:55; "you are of your father the devil," verse 44). Later Peter declared to the Jews that "there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)</p> <p>4) Jesus had predicted that the Jews would suffer a horrible judgment (1-million killed in AD 70) because they rejected Him (He is the Gospel) (Mat. 23:37-39/Luke 19:41-44).</p> <p>5) much earlier, in their own Torah, God had predicted what we now know as 2000 years of Jewish suffering and holocaust (see Deut. 28:64-68; Eze. 37:1-11) because of their unbelief, culminating, of course, in their unbelief in their Messiah and Savior, Jesus Christ.</p> <p>6) Paul doesn't shrink from the truth that the Jews, who were given more light and blessing from God than any other people, rejected their greatest blessing in Christ, and that, as a consequence, they were lost and in need of salvation through the one and only Gospel, which is the same Gospel for us all. The Muslim goes to the grave not knowing if he has accumulated enough “works-points” to balance the scales of Allah in his favor and earn for himself Paradise.</p></li> <li><p>Meanwhile, the Muslim must decide which part of the Koran to believe—the “Mecca Revelations” (the early peaceful verses, written when Mohammad was trying to appease Jews to accept him as God’s prophet), or the “Medina Revelations” (the later “war-verses” written after the Jews rejected Mohammad, and as a result he turned violently against them).</p></li> <li><p>The Koran itself affirms that by Allah’s “Law of Abrogation” (replacement) the earlier peaceful verses have been overridden by the later war (Jihad) verses. Both eventually were brought together in the Koran, but reflect two entirely different worldviews.</p> <p>The Meccan view is the 'universalist' [peaceful] view that holds that Islam, Christianity and Judaism all worship the same Deity and that we are all "People of the Book."</p> <p>The Medina view is the warlike, conquering Islam ...</p> 1. Those who claim to be moderate followers of Islam are those who follow the Meccan Mohammed. 2. The militants follow the Mohammed of Medina. <p>Islam teaches love, temperance and moderation. It's easy enough to prove. Just read the Koran. However, since few ever will, the American face of moderate Islam will read it to you, as is evidently the case with the Bush administration.</p> <p>But the same Koran teaches jihad, death and destruction out of the same pages, and while the American face of moderate Islam will never read those to you, the militant Islamist reads them every single day.</p> <p>It is that split personality within Islam that separates the moderates from the militants. We are told that the moderates are in the majority, but all the evidence seems to indicate the exact opposite.</p> <p>In any case, there are approaching two billion Muslims in the world -- that is two thousand million, to put it more descriptively. So here it is.</p> <p>“The Lost Tomb Of Jesus,” which aired on the Discovery Channel on March 4th, 2007, claimed that the bones of Jesus and His entire family have been discovered in Jerusalem. And, according to the devil, in what seems like chapter 2 of The DaVinci Code, the tomb reveals that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had a son named Judah. They, along with Jesus’ mother Mary, His father Joseph, a brother, Jofa, and Matthew are said to be firmly encrypted with the “dead” Savior in a family tomb.</p> <p>What is the source of this new revelation which claims to overturn 2000 years of Christian faith? James Cameron, the Oscar winning director of Titanic, and Simcha Jacobovici, a Canadian author/filmmaker!</p> <p>What is the evidence? Acts was written by Luke, a close associate of Paul, whom some say was actually the legitimate replacement for Judas among the twelve Apostles. Luke would know—and in Acts 2:14, recording the fulfillment at Pentecost of the promise by Jesus that the Holy Spirit would "come upon you [the Apostles]" (Acts 1:4, 8), he repeats his affirmation of Matthias when he says that "Peter, taking his stand with the eleven [not the ten]."</p> <p>So was Paul an Apostle? Yes, but he was a 13th Apostle—an Apostle with a special and unique mission to the Gentiles (Gal. 1:16; 2:9). They were all written in Greek (the Old Testament in Hebrew and Aramaic). In fact, even the Hebrew Old Testament Bible of the days of Jesus was a Greek translation, known as the Septuagint. It was these written Scriptures that Jesus and the Apostles used.</p> <p>This is not to say that Jesus didn't speak Aramaic—for He did—but Greek was the common, unifying language of the entire near east, and was the language by which God chose to inspire the original writings of the New Testament.</p> <p>Those original Greek manuscripts (called the "autographs") incorporate "All Scripture," and as such they are "inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;" (2 Timothy 3:16). Therefore, the language used in the autographs (the original hand-written, inspired manuscripts) was Greek, not Aramaic. Though none of the autographs exists, we have literally thousands of manuscript copies in the Greek, many of which were made from those original autographs. I implore You by God, do not torment me!" For He had been saying to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!" (Mark 5:6-8)</p> <p>It is this fear and respect of Jesus Christ that, in my opinion, makes John 4:10 the most powerful Scripture for refuting a false prophet—and thus any false religion. This verse contains the essentials of the Gospel. And it is in the very words of Jesus. The context is the meeting between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well.</p> <p>Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." (John 4:10)</p> <p>In this one verse, in the words of Jesus Himself, the false prophet and his false religion is exposed. Here are the essentials,</p> <li><p>"If you knew...” —knowledge of Jesus and the Gospel comes from the Bible Alone, something all false prophets deny. But it is hard to deny the direct words of Jesus Himself.</p></li> <li><p>“the gift of God...” —Eternal Life is a gift. All false prophets teach that you must earn it. When Jesus asked His disciples “But who do you say that I am?", it was the most important question ever asked in the annals of history. The answer to this question is one of two responses that determine the destiny for every person ever born. (for the second, see “Gift,” this page)</p> <p>The Bible shows Jesus to be God the Son through the association of His nature with the attributes of God, through His miracles, and through His use of divine prerogatives (forgiving sin, etc.) But did Jesus ever SAY that He is the One God in the person of the Son of God? YES! Let’s begin with Peter’s answer to Jesus’ question “But who do you say that I am?"</p> <p>And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."</p> <p>Now look at Jesus’ response to Peter’s answer,</p> <p>And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 16:15-17)</p> <p>Jesus said that only God Himself could reveal the true answer to that question, and Peter GOT IT RIGHT! But what exactly does the title “Son of God” mean? Again, we have Jesus’ response, this time to the unbelieving Jews,</p> <p>The Jews took up stones ... Jesus answered them, "I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?" The Jews answered Him, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God." Jesus answered them...do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'? (Matthew 16:15)</p></li> <li><p>“What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30)</p></li> <p>All cults, false religions, heretical teachings arise from False Prophets. All False Prophets put a lying spin on God’s Words. They twist the truth into a lie. All lies are of the Devil “for he is a liar, and the father of lies.” Therefore, False Prophets are of their “father the devil.” (John 8:44) And False Prophets are due to multiply dramatically in the Last Days. Jesus said,</p> <p>"And many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many.” (Matthew 24:11)</p> <p>In this statement, Jesus clearly says that both False Prophets and their followers would be “many.” But He also stated emphatically that we would be able to recognize these false prophets when He said,</p> <p>"Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15-16)</p> <p>“You will know them by their fruits,” Jesus said. He went on to explain in another place the process by which the fruit of a false prophet is expressed.</p> <p>"For each tree is known by its own fruit...for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart. And why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:44-46)</p> <p>From this Scripture we can see 3 stages in the manifestation of the “fruit” of a False Prophet. In stage 2 the “fruit” becomes apparent. It is most often in stage 2 that we can “know them by their fruit.”</p> <li><p>First, the fruit of every false prophet begins with “that which fills his heart.” (Luke 6:45) Of course, at this stage we cannot discern false teaching, false prophecy, or a false prophet, because their belief system is internalized and thus private.</p></li> <li><p>However, in this second stage “that which fills his heart” flows forth when the false prophet’s “mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45) That is, the heart of a false prophet is revealed in the words he speaks or writes! At this stage, the fruit of false prophets becomes apparent to all in the message that issues in their preaching, teaching, or from their pen. Rome’s declarations were declared to have as much authority as the Bible. The Catholic Gospel says that “The Just Shall Live By Faith PLUS a Catholic-devised system of Works.”</p> <p>Does Worldwide Admiration</p> <p>Determine Truth?</p> <p>With the recent death of Pope John Paul II, 500 years after the reformation, almost nothing had changed. Over a billion Catholics are still saddled with “faith plus works” as “Rome’s” key to becoming right with God. But what has changed is the “tilt,” even “leaning,” of much of the protestant Church back toward the direction of Rome. This became especially apparent with the unprecedented worldwide outpouring of admiration for the deceased Pope.</p> <p>One example is especially disheartening. Billy Graham, who has led millions to the Lord by proclaiming “The just shall live by faith,” said on Larry King Live about Pope John Paul, “He has been the greatest moral and spiritual leader of the last 100 years...He’s traveled the whole world giving his version of the Gospel and spreading the Catholic faith.” Many other church leaders have also been swayed with the world as it poured out its admiration for the Pope as the great peacemaker of our time. But is it peace with God—the Pope’s “version of the Gospel?”</p> <p>Let’s Return to our Senses—and to the Bible!</p> <li><p>Billy Graham’s Gospel is still the Biblical Gospel. The Pope’s “version of the Gospel” of Faith plus Works is holding a billion Catholics captive to a false gospel that cannot save, and is a deceptive counterbalance to all of the ’Billy Graham-type’ crusades.</p></li> <li><p>The Bible still says that “even though we, or an angel from heaven [or a Pope from Rome], should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
